Meet Meera!
My name is Meera (they/he). I am a desi, transmasc, disabled music therapist who specializes in the voice, systems analysis, and parts work. I work with folks who have a desire to deepen their relationship with their voice, their inner world, and the world around them. I am specifically passionate about providing care for QTBIPOC.
I became fascinated with the voice through my personal journey of seeking belonging. The choirs I sang in as a child gave me a sense of purpose and home at a time when I was yearning for connection. It was through singing with others that I began learning the concepts of independence and interdependence, trust in myself and others, my inherent power, and the beauty of making sound with others.
If you’re here, I imagine you’re looking for similar things: belonging, connection, trust in yourself, and the expansiveness of sound.
My approach to therapeutic work is eclectic and informed by my lived experience. I believe every voice deserves care-filled spaces to be heard. I believe that individual liberation cannot be possible without collective liberation, and both require some level of understanding of oppressive systems and how they impact our daily lives. I believe relational wounds heal through relationship, inside and outside of the therapy space. I believe our bodies have worked so hard to protect us from harm, and now they might need help learning when it’s safe enough to soften.
I hope our therapeutic container will be a soft place for you to land. I can’t wait to meet you.
